Being raised near the Adirondack Mountains, I grew up with the opportunity to see it's beauty on a regular basis. I spent a week or two every year, as well as countless weekends, camping in the central Adirondacks. It was on those camping trips that my father, grandfather, and uncle taught me how to fish.

In my early twenties, I moved to Lake Luzerne, a small town in the south-eastern Adirondacks. I taught myself to hunt deer and loved spending the day alone, miles from the nearest roads. That feeling of independence guided me into hiking in the mid-80's. Those hikes were usually what would have been non-strenuous if not for the canoe I was carrying to get some fishing in. Those hikes and fishing trips demanded a camera to record the images that many don't get to see. The pictures I took were very private, not something I thought about sharing and not something I thought anyone would be interested in seeing. They were after all, personal images of my trips.

After fighting a serious medical condition in 2003, the urge to get back into the mountains was never stronger. I started hiking for the sake of hiking and I wanted to make it to the top of some of the Adirondack high speaks. I also wanted my pictures to be displayed for all to see.

I've been lucky enough to get some of my work in local art shows and was thrilled to be awarded 1st place for macro photography in Adirondack Life's annual photo contest. A few more shows are in the near future. All shows, past, present and future, are listed on the "Showings" page.
